Depending on which course you choose at La Trobe, you may be able to select from one or more of seven campuses – there are six in the south-eastern state of Victoria and one in Sydney. We also offer many of our courses online.
Our main campus, where many international students study, is located in the capital city of Victoria, Melbourne. Melbourne has been rated the world’s most liveable city by the Economist Intelligence Unit for the past seven years. Their Liveability Index rates 140 cities each year in categories such as education, infrastructure, stability, culture and environment and then gives them an overall ranking.
According to the Time Out City Life Index, Melbourne also has the happiest citizens in the world. Their survey of 15,000 people across 32 cities found that 92% of people in Melbourne enjoy living here and two out of every three find it easy to make friends. The same Index ranked Melbourne the world’s fourth most exciting city behind only New York and Chicago in the United States and Porto in Portugal.
Melbourne is also hugely popular with international students. Student.com recently released its top 10 most popular destinations for students and Melbourne was listed third in the world.
More than 8,000 overseas students from about 110 different countries study at La Trobe. There are well over 20 official university sport clubs and a huge number of societies to get involved with. Before that, though, we provide you with a week-long orientation program, in conjunction with our International Welcome Program, to help you meet new people and make friends.
There are on-campus accommodation options for international students at our Melbourne, Bendigo and Albury-Wodonga campuses. They include colleges, lodges, apartments and units, as well as standalone houses.
And we offer support at every turn, even before you leave your home country. We can help you with your visa, sponsored programs, getting started with your studies, accommodation, community activities and volunteer opportunities and all the processes involved in finishing your studies. There’s a whole team of La Trobe people ready and willing to help you every day, no matter your question or concern.
