The Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University (Stern) offers these departments and concentrations: accounting, arts administration, consulting, e-commerce, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, general management, health care administration, international business, leadership, manufacturing and technology management, marketing, management information systems, not-for-profit management, production/operations management, organizational behavior, real estate, supply chain management/logistics, quantitative analysis/statistics and operations research, and technology. Its tuition is full-time: $76,780 per year; part-time: $2,375 per credit; executive: $204,000 total program; and specialty master's: $54,554 total program. At graduation, 79.10 percent of graduates of the full-time program are employed.

MBA students at the Stern School of Business are grouped in blocks of about 60 before starting school, and this grouping will shape their two years of graduate school education. Students in a block take core courses together, eat lunches on Mondays and even compete in the annual Block Olympics.

When not with their block, students can take electives across NYU’s highly ranked schools. The Stern degree is an MBA in general management, and students can specialize in up to three areas, such as entrepreneurship and innovation or luxury marketing. Students can also complete dual degrees, often at an accelerated pace: the J.D./MBA takes four years at Stern and the NYU School of Law; an M.S. in Biology/MBA takes three years at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences; and an MBA/M.S. in mathematics in finance takes two and a half years at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, among a few other dual degree offerings.

There are about 40 student organizations to check out, and the school's location in New York City gives students plenty of job opportunities. Stern students can live in university housing near campus or in Manhattan. Students looking for a break from campus can take advantage of week- or semester-long study abroad trips offered through the school.

Some Stern alumni have risen to the top of the makeup industry, including graduates Guillaume Jesel, a senior vice president for global marketing at MAC Cosmetics; Alan Ennis, former president and CEO of Revlon, Inc.; and John Demsey, group president of The Estée Lauder Companies. Other notable alumni of the Stern School of Business include Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox Television Stations, and Farooq Kathwari, chairman, president and CEO of Ethan Allen Interiors Inc.

Curricula Descriptions

NYU Stern's programs are deeply connected to industry, with our NYC location being an unmatched asset where the City serves as our classroom and the classroom a magnet for business leaders. At Stern we are unbound by tradition, agile and bold innovators and frequently, first to market with the skill and will to introduce new ideas. We inspire our students to embrace change in a globally changing world by designing the student experience to be all about transformation, and as a School, we walk the talk. NYU Stern's Full-time MBA program is 60 credits: more than half are electives, complementing a flexible core curriculum. Year one combines core courses, electives, and our Ignite career development program. As early as the second semester, students can customize their curriculum, with the option to complete up to three specializations, leverage Stern Solutions experiential learning opportunities in NYC and globally, and enroll in courses at other NYU graduate schools.

Executive program

The 22-month Executive MBA program is designed for experienced professionals. Classes meet Friday and Saturday every other week. A rigorous general management curriculum provides a strong foundation across business disciplines, while week-long Global Study Tours lend firsthand international markets exposure. A wide range of electives in the second year allow students to hone areas of expertise.

Part-time program

NYU Stern's Langone Part-time MBA program provides three great options for working professionals to pursue their MBA: the Accelerated two year option, the flexible Weeknight option, and the Saturday option. Students can adjust their pace over the course of the program and earn their MBA in two to six years.

The School of Law at New York University has an application deadline of Feb. 15. The full-time program application fee at the School of Law at New York University is $85. Its tuition is full-time: $71,304. The student-faculty ratio is 5.8:1.

From their first year, law students at NYU Law get an interactive experience in practical legal skills through the school’s Lawyering Program. In their second and third year, students can further test their knowledge in more than 30 legal clinics and about 25 on-campus centers, in addition to dynamic Colloquia seminar classes that consist of a series of workshops on a given subject.

Students can earn joint degrees through other schools at NYU, like the highly ranked Stern School of Business, or dual degrees with outside institutions including the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. There are more than 50 student organizations to check out, and students can live on the residential campus. The school also offers foreign student exchange programs, giving law students a chance to study at about 15 universities worldwide.

Notable NYU Law School alumni include John Carrig, former president and chief operating officer of energy giant ConocoPhillips Co.; Evan Chesler, chairman of the law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP; and Paul Tagliabue, former commissioner of the NFL.
