The Kenan-Flagler Business School at University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler) offers these departments and concentrations: accounting, consulting, entrepreneurship, finance, general management, health care administration, leadership, marketing, production/operations management, organizational behavior, portfolio management, real estate, supply chain management/logistics, quantitative analysis/statistics and operations research, and technology. Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill stresses the importance of developing leadership skills and business strategies through hands-on experience. It offers more than 15 hands-on simulations, business projects and capstone courses to gain real-life experience, including the Real Estate Investment Management program, the Senior Accountant Simulation and the Global Entrepreneurship Lab.

UNC Kenan-Flagler offers a full-time MBA program, an online MBA program and executive MBA programs in weekend and evening formats, as well as a Master of Accounting program, offered in on-campus and online formats, and a Ph.D. program. The full-time MBA program features flexible classes that place an emphasis on global perspectives. Students have the option to participate in more than 40 MBA student clubs and organizations, including the Consulting Club, the Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Club, the Corporate Finance Club and the Health Care Club. Students enroll in elective courses beginning in their first year to prepare for summer internships, and roughly 10 percent of the elective courses are new each year.

There are 37,000 alumni worldwide, and some of the most notable graduates are Michele Buck, president and chief executive officer of The Hershey Company; Richard Allison, director and chief executive officer of Domino's Pizza Inc.; and Jason Liberty, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

At the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill School of Law, students take a required courseload in their first year and choose most of their own courses in their second and third years. Law students can also take courses not offered at UNC at either the Duke University Law School or North Carolina Central University School of Law. The UNC Law School offers dual degrees including a J.D./M.A. in Sports Administration through the university’s Department of Exercise and Sport Science; a J.D./MBA through the Kenan-Flagler Business School; and J.D./Master of Public Policy through the Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy.

Students can get hands-on training helping clients at the School of Law’s clinics, which include the Juvenile Justice Clinic and the Community Development Law Clinics. The UNC School of Law also offers a semester externship program that places students with lawyers and judges around the community and a Pro Bono Program that coordinates student service projects. There are more than 45 student organizations to join at Carolina Law, as well as several legal journals including the North Carolina Law Review, the First Amendment Law Review, and the North Carolina Banking Institute Journal. About 70 percent of law students are North Carolina residents, and students are encouraged to live on the university’s campus in Chapel Hill.

Notable alumni of the UNC School of Law include Henry Frye, the first black chief justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, and Marion Cowell, Jr., former executive vice president, secretary, and general counsel of banking giant First Union Corp. (now Wachovia Corp.).

The University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill School of Medicine operates on the traditional four-year medical curriculum. Students can beef up their studies with summertime electives and have opportunities to study abroad as well. The third year clerkship must be completed in the UNC Hospitals system or an affiliated hospital. There is a joint M.D./Ph.D. program, but no official M.D./MBA or M.D./J.D. curriculums.
