Program: Baylor University Summer Science Research Program for High School Students: Waco, Texas
Description:The Baylor University High School Summer Science Research Program (HSSSRP) provides superior high school students with the opportunity to participate in a hands-on research experience by working on research projects with Baylor University science professors in many disciplines. The research program occurs during the University’s first session of summer school and is open to students the summer between their junior and senior year of high school. Students are selected each year from high schools throughout the United States to be involved in this summer research program, which allows them to earn one semester hour of college credit. It is hoped that this experience will have a positive effect on student interest in careers in science disciplines. Many former participants have successfully entered challenging undergraduate programs throughout the nation, including those at Baylor. The HSSSRP offers students an excellent opportunity to experience Baylor as they begin to consider which college they want to attend.

Program: Faces of Innovation: Global Teen Medical Summit: The Health Museum in Houston, Texas
Description:Are you interested in a career in the medical or health field? The John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science, also known as The Health Museum, in Houston, Texas is offering the Faces of Innovation: Global Teen Medical Summit. Enjoy 5 days of cutting edge, hands-on sessions in the renowned Texas Medical Center visiting some of the top medical facilities in the world, hear lectures from several experts in their field, participate in a Pandemic Challenge with fellow students, and stay at Rice University – known worldwide as a premier educational institution, and enjoy fun nighttime activities with like-minded students from around the globe. Dates are July 11-15, 2016. Registration is limited.

The Health Museum is located in the Museum District of Houston, Texas, just minutes away from both the Texas Medical Center and Rice University.

Program: Health Sciences Summer Enrichment Program at Hardin-Simmons University: Abilene, Texas
Description:The Health Sciences Summer Enrichment Program (HSSEP) is hosted by Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) in Abilene, Texas every June. This two-week in residence program is designed to give high school juniors, seniors, and incoming college freshmen an opportunity to prepare for the college-level chemistry, math, and biology required for pre-health majors through a series of short courses. Participants explore pre-health careers through interactive sessions, such as a suture lab hosted by the HSU PA program and a tour of the simulation lab in the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing. Other sessions are also hosted by representatives from the HSU Physical Therapy School, Texas Tech Pharmacy School, Texas Tech Department of Public Health, Joint Medical Admission Program students, and Big Country physicians. Participants are given tools to guide them in choosing the right healthcare career for themselves.
Participants:11th graders, 12th graders, or incoming freshmen with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, an interest in pursuing health-related careers, and considering HSU for a college education

Program Midwestern State University Young Engineer Summer Camp for High School Students:Wichita Falls, Texas
Description:The week-long MSU YES Camp will be offered by the McCoy School of Engineering and will cover background information related to basic science and mathematics as well as field trips and engineering project competitions. The material is presented at a level accessible to high school juniors, seniors, and graduates. Emphasis is on fundamental knowledge of immediate use in contemporary engineering curricula. The instructors are experienced teachers in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and engineering. Multi-media instructional materials will be used along with some fun engineering projects using LEGO robotics and CNC manufacturing tools. Scholarships will be awarded based on the overall performance in particular results from engineering project competition of attendees.
